The meadow over the fence

One sheep jumped the fence,

the next hit it hard on the head.

Another day the sheep would make it,

but today was today.

One more sheep jumped the fence,

the next couldn’t and became insane.

Another sheep jumped the fence,

a second one jumped the fence,

a third one jumped the fence;

the sheep’s Olympic committee.

One sheep jumped to contemplate the meadow,

the next didn’t and contemplated the fence.

The very next night, the Lord of the sheep

thought of a meadow without a fence.

The sheep came grazing by and the Lord

soon fell asleep like the night before.

One had a terrible headache under the patch,

another was talking to and about grass.

The Lord saw none of these sheep,

dreaming of tomorrow’s meadow.
