Tree mother,
Forgive us under your foliage
For away we will have to walk,
And we will leave full of life.
Legs were shapen from surfaced roots
So that we can chase the sun.
We don't have to surrender our leaves anymore
Or lay dorment until Spring blooming bursts.
And forgive us more if during our journey
We forget that from you we came.
In our mind was stuck an oposable thumb,
And it hurts what we lack.
But will you forgive us during our seasonal return
To hug your branches of birth
And to stay under your shade for
The sun and your sons are back?
