It isn’t water that falls when it rains;
it’s meanings and recollections,
making way to the bubbling gutter.
Water dirty from everything it fell upon.
Water we might drink again from a tap
we turn on, connected to a rusty pipe.
Water more oblivious than wine,
and not even truer:
heavenly.
